Sharon, who started Darling Reasons

A note from Sharon, who started Darling Reasons

Hello, I'm Sharon. I started Darling Reasons because the things we love most about the people closest to us are the ones we rarely say out loud: the small habits, the way they look after us, the moments only we noticed.

A book of fifty reasons gives those words somewhere to live, long after the card has gone. Every book is made to order, and if anything isn't right, write to me and I'll put it right.

A picture-book version of your people: a big bear and a little cub, a duck and her duckling, or two otters in love. Grown-ups, little ones and grandparents each keep their size, their clothes and their glasses, on the cover and every page.

You still save me the last roast potato and pretend you didn't see me looking.

You learnt my coffee order on our second date and never once got it wrong.

You hold my hand in the car like we're still nineteen.

Good to know

Can the characters really look like us?+

That's the point. Choose from ten skin tones, sixteen hairstyles including locs, braids, afros and coils, face shapes, noses, lips and body types, plus hijabs, turbans and headwraps, glasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, freckles, vitiligo, grey hair and pets. Then pick a style and we illustrate them.

When can I order?+

Now. Make your book, read every page, then order the digital book or a printed copy. If you're in the EU, order from our Etsy shop for now.

Where is it printed?+

Close to whoever's receiving it: in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and the EU. That keeps delivery quick and avoids customs charges.

What if it's the night before?+

Order the digital book and it opens as soon as you pay. Add a printed copy and it follows in the post.

Can I make one for my mum, or my best friend?+

Yes. Pick who it's for at the start and the questions change to suit: warm and grateful for family, full of in-jokes for friends, romantic only for partners.

How are the words and pictures made?+

From your memories. You answer questions about real moments, and our writing assistant, which uses AI, turns your answers into first drafts using only what you told us. You keep, change or rewrite every line. The illustrations are made with AI image tools from the characters you build, and each one is checked against your choices before you see it. Nothing is printed until you've approved every page.

Say it while you're thinking it.

Make the characters now, it takes two minutes. The words can come later; we'll help.
