100 messages ·

A Mother's Day card is one of the few things moms keep. Most of them have a drawer full. The trouble is the blank space inside: you know exactly what she's done for you, and somehow all that comes out is "Thanks for everything, love you."
A simple formula works for almost any mom: one memory, one thing you're grateful for now, and one thing you hope she knows. Three short lines. Below are 100 Mother's Day card messages to copy or adapt, from a daughter, a son and the kids, plus funny and short ones, and messages for a new mom, a mom far away, your wife, Grandma, a stepmom and a mother-in-law. Write "Mum" if that's what you call her; every line works either way.
Stuck on the middle line? The free reasons generator turns a few true things about her into ten reasons you love her, and our 60 reasons why I love you, Mom has more to borrow.

How to sign off
"Love always" and "With all my love" never go wrong. For something warmer, sign with the name only she uses for you, or add one small promise: "Love you, see you Sunday." If the card is from the whole family, let the kids add their own names, however wobbly. She'll keep that part longest.
If you'd rather choose a different card message each year, start a list now. Write down the small things she does as you notice them, and you'll never be stuck again.
If you find you have more to say than a card can hold, that's a good sign. A book of reasons is a Mother's Day card with a page for every thought: Thank You, Mom holds fifty thank-yous she never asked for, one per page, written from your memories, with the two of you illustrated on the cover, and What I Love About You, Mom does the same with the things you love about her. The digital book is $12 and the hardcover is $49.
Mother's Day is Sunday, May 9, 2027 in the US, Canada and Australia, and Mothering Sunday is March 7 in the UK. The digital book opens as soon as you pay, so it works right up to the morning itself, and our Mother's Day page has the last days to order a printed copy. Still choosing a gift? Questions people ask
What do you write in a Mother's Day card?+
Three lines is enough: one memory, one thing you're grateful for now, and one thing you hope she knows. Add the name only she calls you, and it's done.
What do you write in a Mother's Day card from a daughter?+
Something only the two of you would understand: a piece of advice she gave you, a habit of hers you've picked up, or the moment you realized she was right. Specific beats poetic every time.
What's a good short Mother's Day message?+
"Everything I am, I owe to you" or "Lucky to be yours." Short lines work best on a gift tag. In a card, add one specific memory and it stops sounding like everyone else's.
What do you write in a Mother's Day card for your wife?+
Tell her what you see when you watch her with the kids, and thank her for something specific from this year. Let the children add their own line or drawing; that's the part she'll keep.
